I have once again had some contact with a public servant who has had about 80 pages from Sydney Indymedia placed on their personnel file. This person clearly did not write any of the articles. The only person they have been able to contact to refute this false allegation was Tom McLoughlin (Ecology Action) who wrote several of the articles attributed to the public servant. This is because most Indy writers use a nom de plume, fearing just this kind of retaliation. Tom kindly wrote a message for the government department concerned stating that the articles were written by him, not the public servant, and that over 6 years of involvement in Sydney Indy, Tom has never heard of this particular public servant. He gave them his mobile phone number. The public servant (he or she, non-identification is crucial for their continuing employment) sent this letter by Tom McLoughlin to the Department together with a request under FOI legislation for the items from Sydney Indymedia to be removed from their personnel file. They refused, again stating falsely that the public servant was the author of all the articles collected on their file. I think Tom is one of those excellent people who climbed the Opera House and protested against the war in Iraq. Maybe they're saying this public servant is consorting! Two of the stories by Tom the government department claims were written by this person were "Indonesia-Papua Financial Underpinning of Gangster Protection Racket", "Greens: Australia still bludging on foreign aid" and dozens more by Tom. Also, comments and articles probably written by some or all of you. This shows what a disgusting government we have in this state. This person's personnel file looks like a KGB file on all of us. It wouldn't be far wrong to call this behaviour evil.
