An interesting article, but I disagree with his conclusions. I would 
point to 2 examples:

1. http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Main_Page
Wikinews is collaboratively written and provides one model for citizen 
journalism. 

2. The other model is from south korea in which citizens submit news 
and editorial staff "in Seoul check facts, polish each piece and decide 
where it will appear on the site." Contributors are paid for their 
stories!

Food for thought...

I still think we need to identify **what we do** and **who our primary 
audience is**, which will help determine what sort of site and the 
style of moderation and filtering.
