thought I should share this response from South Africa IMC to my
imc-communication post
Keep in mind with regard to using/developing Drupal.

publishing

Hi takver
We're in almost exactly the same situation here in South Africa. In Cape
Town, our (small) group is involved in print newsletters, in video work,
etc. The internet is largely our "archive" and at this point not so
important to us. Some features would be nice, though - a kind of indy
blog aggregator, a calendar we could easily transfer into print, etc.
I've looked into drupal as replacement software (I'm basically SA's sole
tech), but its a lot to get going for one person. If, however, you guys
in Melbourne are interested in moving forward with something
drupal-based, maybe we can share experiences?
In a broader sense, as you mention, blogs (and YouTube and the like)
have shifted some relevance away from Indymedia. The internecine
conflicts (not just with Darwin) have contributed further to energy loss.
