It could easily become messy if we don't design/set it up/manage it properly, however I think the basic idea is OK - certainly worth further consideration.
However, I think the main priority of the MIM collective should be to decide what it is we want to do with MIM and then do it (or not do it, as the case may be!)

seems a tad redundant. People don't seem to even be able to get
enough content to/manage the already existing sites, adding another
one on top of it doesn't sound like a solution.
Merging all aus IMCs into 1 Aus Indymedia seems like a more solid
idea to me.
