I am very much in favour of any devlopment done ebing done int eh form of modules rather than forking the core coe (a la www.civispacelabs.net) because it quick patching and code upgrading with the rest of the drupal folks out there. That is a good thing. Civicspace labs have been badly hamstrung by thie choice of methods - i.e. running with a totally shite version of the events module. Forking of code aside, what civicspace labs have done - i.e. producing a installion of drupal that is oriented towards a particular use (in their case political action) might be cool. Package an IMC drupal with sensible defaults and the right modules installed... Is actually insanely easy. We could just get a skeletal site running, do a MySQL dump of our settings, delete the passwrods from the config files, then tar the whole lot and we're done. My initital feeling is there probably ain't much custom module stuff to write - it seems that Drupal 4.6 can do most everything IMC needs, yeah? Or have the syndey mob run into obstacles...?
